New Polaris Scrambler 500 2x4
#1
I was informed today that Polaris is taking orders for their new Scrambler 500 2x4 I have always thought they should build it and now they have. As a dealer I would like to hear any comments about what you guys think before we order them.

i think if polaris is making a 2x4 sport machine they should put a 2 stroke snowmobile engine in it. that way it wouldnt matter how heavy our machines were. 500,600,700 twin would be great but its only a dream probably. i really wouldnt think much of a 500 4stroke sport quad.

Hey, as a dealer can you tell me what the dealer cost is for the '00 Polaris line up? I am looking to buy one and want to know how much room they have to move so I get a good deal but still leaving room for the dealer to make some too.

YES, YES, YES!!!!!... I have been hounding the local dealerships, (especially right before the August dealership meetings.. where were they held at this year? Nevada?) I have been screaming for two years that they need to build a Scrambler 500 2x4 to match the Sport 400 2x4. What is the advertised weight on it? What color will the plastic be.. I have often said it would be trick in a dark blue with black accents (seat, hood, springs,etc..) and aluminum wheels. AfterBurner 500... with a kinda slashed lightening bolt on the sides of the gas tank...
Please keep me informed as to when, how much, and the specifics on the machine...
Thank you...

Well I guess if this is true then there will be some happy people. However I am not sure if I care for the 500HO in a 2x4. I mean why do this? They already have it covered with the rest of the Scrambler lineup. As for myself I am a bit disapointed to here this I was really hoping for a high preformance twin maybe not a snowmachine engine but somthing to compete with the DS 650, Banshee and EX. Now if they put the 500HO in a lighter frame and improved handeling this would excite me and I am sure many other riders. Keep us posted.

This is definitely a long awaited quad, it really opens the door for those who want a 4-stroke and don't really have plans for major mods that the 2-stroke is known for. Now the only questions are weight(as always)and price.

This is definately a good move for Polaris because they have all the parts to build the bike anyway.
It should tip the scale at around 500 lbs with aluminum wheels. It's not too bad plus come time you can shed about 40 lbs or more to make it as light if not lighter than a DS 650. Polaris specialty shops hopefuly will start paying more attention to the new thumpers to come. So far so good....with the current available mods but the motor is still tame. Pistons and cams are around the corner and we might see an aftermarket cylinder head or crankshaft/rod kit ( 550cc, 600cc...ect ).
Just think a weighs a little heavier than a trailblazer ( with weight reductions ofcourse ) with more than twice the power.

I have to admit that if Polaris just plans to strip the 4X4 system off the current SC500 chassis and market it as a Sport 500cc machine, I'm a bit dissapointed. Although, I'm sure it will still be a good machine.

I hear you Jerry but unfortunately Polaris is not as ambicious as we would like them to be.
By the way nice post in the latest issue of ATV Sport.
Andrew, i wish i could tell you different but i think 500 lbs is their target weight for this machine.
