Hello, Its has been a while. Does anyone have any pics of their AC 500 automaticwith a snorkle? I have a constant problem with the belt drive bearings wearing out because of the low vent height on the drive. Thanks in advance for the help!!

Hey Boner, didn't MikeSlaby have a bunch of really good ones of his snorkels? Haven't seen him post lately, but I'm pretty sure he had some pretty good pictures that might help In2Atv'n out a little. Do you remember what I'm talking about? Guess I could be confused again with that last little bump on the head... Also, BigCatDriver has some, but again, haven't seen him in a LONG time.

Best of luck,

Mike

Mike, Boner, Cowboy, Thanks for the research. I appreciate it. My next question Mike is what did you do about the vent on the left side of your quad? I did not see a snorkle on that vent. Did you block it off? I read somewhere where a guy blocked the LH vent off. Is it safe to do? Thanks!!

I used to have a snorkle for the other vent. I used a plastic pipe fitting siliconed into the factory rubber elbow, to which I connected two 24 in lengths of 1 1/8 th in ID flexible radiator hose. It ran along the exhaust pipe up and out the frame to the rear rack. Worked great. I decided to block it off instead. People have plugged the snout by the rubber elbow. I just removed the whole vent housing and put a plate over the opening. 300 miles and no problems yet. Good luck. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.

Mike, You took the aluminum housing off? Doesn't the drive overheat? I could easily block off mine with a 2" rubber pcv pipe cap. I am a little scared of the blocking off thing but I would be willing to try it if I was sure that it would not affect the drive belt or clutch. Thanks!!
