Why is it that when you go riding those group of trees that you have ridden thru a hundred times always seem to get real close on occasion and you end up hitting one??? I broke the right a-arm and hammered the lower steering post! I think that I read a post somewhere that said a company make a stronger steering stem and lower post bearing but i can't find it!

Damn the y2k trees!

HPD makes the better lower steering stem bearing. It's actually better than stock, cause it's a bearing and not a bushing.

Rooster is correct on the steering post bushing replacement from HPD, Its a good piece about $35.00 If I remember right. The stock replacement is around $6.00. Heres HPD's web address...www.hpd-inc.com..

I installed the lower steering bushing on my Sport. It was easy to do and takes out all the slop. It's also made of brass instead of plastic like the stock one. My local Polaris dealer had them in stock for $34. Hotseat Performance also sells the chromoly steering post, but is quite pricey at $189. I decided to replace mine with a stock one, also from my local dealer for $39. Also easily installed.

 

Till you learn to stay out of trees all the aftermarket parts in the world won't help.LOL

Corncob... how right you are. I guess I have learned my lesson until next time.lol So I guess you just take the bars and wiring off, hten the bolt and pull it up thru?right??

Well i'm off with the chainsaw to show that tree a thing or two...
