Scrambler 500 mods
#1
I've been waiting for a PROVEN, meaning a performance mod for a Polaris quad that has shown real results. The selection of performance mods for Polaris is limited, we need a section on this forum showing positive results for Polaris from owners out there who have had their machines modified. I'd be glad to do some evaluation on performance upgrades if the companies would be willing to test their products out in the real world. The bottom line is always the money of course, of which is a concern for me.

My scrambler 500 is pretty fast these days and i can say Aaen performance has a pipe, carb, clutch kit combination that adds a modest 10-12 HP. Piston, head porting and a cam and you are looking at another 10-12 HP but that combination is not available yeat. A higher compression piston is available from Wiseco but does not have valve reliefs notched into the dome which would allow you to have a wilder cam.
For now the 500 motor is lower priority since the 400 is easier and cheaper to modify. That doesn't mean the 500 can't be modified. According to some Polaris speed shops the 500 can see 60+ horse power with more torque than the 400 anywhere in the powerband but it is twice as expensive and the parts are not available and may never be if demand is low.
Reducing weight is good practice with these machines. They are unacceptably heavy but can be improved with a low steel diet.
In the woods where i ride mostly it is the king having good ground clearance, 4wd and a PVT. The only time i loose poll position so to speak is if the woods gets tight and bikes like blasters or 300ex can manuever better or if there is a long strait away and a modified banshee or 400ex can easily pass me.
In the sand the scrambler is not as fun and would rather have Jerry Goodman's super modified 400L. It is nice however to own just 1 machine and be able to take it any where.
We had 4 inches of snow here yesterday and i had all kinds of fun in the snow. I even plowed my driveway by placing an old door sideways in front of the quad and holding the **** while i gave it gas. My dad was cracking up.

I want to make my scrambler faster but i don't kno what kit to buy. I have heard RCR, Aeen, Hpd, and hot seats are all good but has anyone ever made or read about a direct comparison. I also want to hear from anyone who has made any mods to the scrambler and what u think of them. I also want to buy a complete kit, not just a pipe or anything. I've been seriously looking at RCr's stage 1 kit but i'm not sure.
