Besides the new filter, do they remove the restriction wall inside the airbox, add another hole between the boot and airbox and put on a 2 1/2 inch snorkle? Is that it or is there more or less restriction?

Thanks.

Xplor,

You get the new Uni, a piece of metal tube (2.5" if I remember correctly) this tube gets shoved into the rubber snorkle boot coming off the nose of the airbox. Rick suggests that you drill holes into airboxe where the 2 inlet holes already are. He does not suggest you cut the splash guard.

I cut the splash guard out of mine about a month before i got rid of the hole darn mess.

What's going on?

EC

Buster, Since I have tried everthing else I may replace the splashguard to add a wee bit of restriction/vacuum. It may help the carb "suck in" more gas around the needle jet???

The RcR air box mod costs $35. You can buy a Uni-Filter for $17, and use a piece of PVC pipe, and do the mod yourself. It's quite easily done, and it does increase performance.

I have pics and instructions if you want them Xplor.

Thanks Quadfather. You had sent them to me last year. I brought the pics to the dealer who did the job last April. I was just curious because I really gutted my airbox to the max this winter and that may be what was causing my lean midrange problem. Maybe the carb did not have enough vacuum to get the fuel around the needle??? I just rebuilt the airbox to RCR specs: plugged the third hole and reinstalled a splashguard. Maybe...just maybe.
