How can you make a Scrambler 400 4*4 outrun a 660 grizz, and what would it take to get it faster than a craptor??? My friend is considering getting one of these and i am trading for a scrambler and i will not be defeated, lol/I was thinking of getting a clutch kit and pipe, how do these mods do, what are the best kinds, and what other mods are there and how do they do? THANX in advance for helping me show them darn yammies whose boss!!! (i know i have one but im getting rid of it!)

PS: do mods make the scrambler less reliable???

It is possible but it will take some $$$$. If all the mods are done correctly it will be reliable. You will definitely need more than a pipe and clutch kit. You will at least need porting, maybe long duration cam, 42 TMX, and maybe high compression piston. Those should get you close. The only problem you may run into is getting the same amount of top end. I have ridden a Sportsman with the same mods and there will be no problem leaving the Raptor at the line but if I would guess he will overtake you at about 55-60 mph. I don't believe the Grizz will ever see past your tailpipe.

I guess it would take a lot of $$$$ to put a new cam in the 400............??

I think you will be amazed at what a pipe and clutch will do for you. I am not sure what it takes to make the 4x4 faster than the raptor, but if you add a head to the pipe and clutch kit to gain back some low end torque, you should be able to take him.

A Pipe and clutch kit may be enough to take a Grizzly. Like Ug said, the problem is getting it on top-end as well. I haven't heard the top-end numbers confirmed yet (I have heard from 60-75....I deffinatly don't believe 75). Until I hear the actual number I can't say for sure. I think it would be a close race either way.

As for beating a Raptor, it can be done. Talk to Xplor (Brian) on here. He has a Raptor, and a Scrambler 4x4, and the Scrambler is faster.

I beleive that with a HDP or PSI pipe/Scrambler silencer,RcR airbox mod and a Heel Clickers clutch kit,you could take a new Grizzly,in fact,im looking to race one as soon as I find one.

My modified PSI pipe gave me a VERY noticable power gain, especially at the mid/higher ranges.

The Heel Clickers clutch kit advertises that it will increase your top end 5-6 mph,I dont know?My speedo would allways top out.The HCs weights swing out farther, thus increasing top end.

If I had to bet,I'd bet on my lightly modified Xplorer winning a drag race with the new Grizz.

00 Xplorer 400cc 4x4
26 inch Mudrunners
PSI pipe w/Scramber silencer
Delta V-Force reeds w/spacer kit
RcR airbox mods
Heel Clickers clutch kit
Sidewinders Titanium chain/sprockets
GPS

WOW...........sorry guys. I thought it said 500!! Oops my bad, LOL. As far as 400, I have 2 words 60 horse. Don't follow Hot Seat, match components up yourself from other various companies. You will have around 1200 in it. If you know someone to port it and make little short cuts in tuning your cost will be much less. Again sorry, you do not know how much of an a$$ I feel like. Oh well $#!^ happens.

Don't feel bad, he asked if he could do it with a pipe and clutch kit. If the new Grizz is as fast as I have heard (high 60's), it would probably still take more than a pipe and clutch kit to get it on top end. I haven't clocked my Sport yet, so I'm not sure what I'm running on top end.

Today,
while handing out my safety cards at local dealerships,I had the offer to ride the new Grizz and the new Kawi. Now this is a poor evaluation because the parking lot would NOT allow me the room to take either ATV past 20mph.My first impression is that these ATVs better have ALOT better top end then they do from the bottom end or my Xplorer will eat either of them alive in a drag race.NEITHER ATV at any time, threatened to throw me over the backend with wheelie's,and this was on ASHALT from a dead stop.I was not impressed with either ATVs low end grunt,at least not when compared to what the Xplorer will do.Both ATVs were put in Low and High range.

The steering on the Grizz was the absolute best and lightest feeling steering I have ever felt on a 4x4 ATV.It felt like someone added power steering to it.I really like this ATV alot,in fact,it very well might be my next ATV.Im going to wait and see what Polaris comes out with first.
