For those of you that wanted to know how my X ran after I used a 330 kit to make it a 300. I went for a test ride yesterday and rode it about 10 miles. Into the 10th mile I was running it about half throtle and all of a sudden I heard something like a spring snaping and then the engine cut out. I thought to myself, "That sounds expensive!" Turns out my right intake valve floated open tapped the piston bent the valve and valve guide, and then snapped the cam chain. Looks like I'm getting stiffer valve springs and a ported head after all. I figure I might as well do it since I'll have the head all tore apart. All in all I wasn't really that impressed with the higher compression and big bore kit. Sure it had tons of low end but it was a bear to kick over, I mean like I could stand on the kick starter and it wouldn't move sometimes. I'm wondering if the valves and chain were why I wasn't impressed, maybe it wasn't running like it should have.

well, a big bore without porting is really a waste of money!

The 250X head is made for 250cc not a 300cc motor. Its not getting enough flow.

A valve job and a port and flow is needed for it to run right..

what cam are you running? Hard weld rockers?

I'm running the stock cam for now untill I get a little more if the green stuff. The stock cam gives it tons of torque but I need something with more profile to spread out the power more. I'm going to throw in some hardweld rockers once I get the cam. Where did you get yours? I gotta say though the lowend was nuts but thats the only place that I noticed power. All it wanted to do is spin the tires. I'm just wondering what caused the valve to float open. I don't have the head off yet so I don't know yet if it damaged the piston yet or not.
