I have a 00 sp500 with stock 25x8x12 & 25x11x10.
I WANT bigger tires. but am all confused on tire sizes.. I wanted 26x12x12 and 26x9x12. However the diameter and rolling circumferance are differant.. What is the size i need to maintain? overall diamiter? or rolling circumferance? On the stockers both are the same. Please look at this web site and help me under stand WHAT tire size i can safely go with. I herd i need to stay the same on some thing to make the awd work correctly. GOD I DONT KNOW!
Please help my simple brain get this!
Thanks

Well, I'm not a tire expert, but this is what I know....

The first number is the tire height in inches. You currently have 25" tires. The second number is the width. You have 8" wide tires in the front, and 11" in the back. The third number is the rim size, unless you get aftermarket rims this has to remain the same.

Now, this is what I am guessing....

Since your back and your front tires are the same height now, I would guess that when you replace them, the new ones should be the same height as eachother (front and rear). For instance, if you put 26" tires in the back, you should put 26" tires in the front and so on. The width can vary between the tires, but you also have to make sure that you don't get a tire that is too wide for the rims...I don't know much about that. If you are getting new rims with the tires, you shouldn't have to pay attention to the width or the rim diameter since whoever you are buying them off of should take that into account already (that is if you are ordering them as a package).

Another thing I don't know about...

I know absolutely nothing about what tires can fit on your quad without a lift, or anything like that. I would guess that you could safely put 26"ers on there without any problems.

Was this what your question was asking?

Good luck.

Ohhhhhhhhh....I just checked out the link that you have and I see what you are talking about now.

This I have no idea about, but I would say that as long as you pick 26", and 26" it will be good enough. I can't see how anybody could run them if that was the case because none of the tires on that page match up exactly.

I run 26x10x12 on the front and 26x12x12 on the back of my 2000 xplorer 400. It doen't affect the 4wd at all. The only way that i would see it causing a problem would be running 25's and 26's. As long as you keep the tire height in the front and back the same you will be fine. You can run 26's on your bike without a lift. They might rub the fenders depending on what tire you run. If they do rub then you can move the floorboards back an inch and won't have a problem. I know you can't run 12's on the front because they will rub the struts.
