My wife owns a 99 Big Bear and she was hit by another rider. The other rider hit her left rear tire (did not seem like a hard hit at all). Apparently it was enough to bend her rear axle (by the left rear tire).

I am looking for recommendations for what I should do. The Big Bear has less than 35 miles on it. The ATV shop in town is very expensive. Should I buy an axle and have a friend install it for me (he is a mechanic). Or is this something that an ATV shop needs to do based off particular requirements that ATV's have (if any).

Thanks,
Ranger

Your friend should not have a problem installing the new axle. You also might want to consider buying a repair manual they are very helpfull and well worth the money.

Try a rpm axle.

see if the dealer will cover it under the factory warranty.
