I've read about all the new models, Yamaha's only really new one was the Kodiak. The Banshee is about as high performance as we're going to get. Some rumors about building a quad using Yamaha's mighty YZ400 motor are false.

California laws are banning the sales of any two stroke motor in the state sometime in the year 2000. So Yamaha better get it together, because I read somewhere that 40% of atv sales are in California. Bye, Bye Banshee. And we all know that a Warrior is no match for a 400EX. It would be dumb not to put the yz motor in a quad frame. It would make more power than the EX, it's just sorting out that handling thing. We will just have to wait and see.

I found that article I was talking about, According to Dirtwheels magazine Yamaha is currently testing several new ATV's and one is using the new YZ400 powerplant, The new ATV will be released according to dirtwheels in 2001. I'll get that scanned tonight and post it to my websight for 10/8/99

I wrote Yamaha about this supposed new 400 four-wheeler and they said they had no intentions of making it and no models were being tested.

I don't think that Yamaha ever had the intentions to stick that YZ400F engine in a quad chassis. That is just another fanatical dream that the goons over at Hi-Torque publishing keep pursuing. Realistically, though, I have heard several different Yamaha dealers and reps tell me about an updated Banshee and Warrior for '01. At least those are realistic rumors...

Warrior/Wolverine rumured to contain the new 400 engine that is currently in the new kodiak. With a redesigned frame for better handling.

Cali and PA are currently in the process to limit and or eliminate new sales of 2 stroke engines for recreation use. Including quads, dirtbikes and waverunners.
Banshee was originaly going to be replaced with the yz400 engine. But was scrapped do to honda's supposive release of a larger 500+ Sport machine.
