Trouble starting Cat
#1
If I don't run my quad for about a week, I have difficulty getting it started. Takes at least 6 attempts. Basically, I just lower the choke and hit the start button repeatedly. Does anyone have any tips to make this less aggrevating? I played with the idle when I first got the machine and I probably screwed it up. I think the manual calls for 1400rpm idle. Of course I don't know where I'm at now. I have it set so it does not jolt into gear.
Thanks and good riding.

Minehunter is on the money. I have the same bike you do and usually burn the most of the gas out of the carb after a ride. I pump mine 2-4 times when starting it cold. You will feel pressure when the primer starts pushing gas in I usually pump it once more and she is good. I never have had to use the choke after I priming it

My 400 cat is the same way. Our 500 starts up quickly and rarly needs choke more than a few seconds. The 400 needs all of the choke and needs it for a while after starting unless I do as these other guys have mentioned and prime it for a couple of pumps then it only needs limited choke like the 500.
