I have a 01' Raptor that i bought used. It is all stock except for the White Bros. E-series slip-on. This bike wheelies easy in 2nd and sometimes with a tug in 3rd. My question is that since i don't know what it felt like with the stock can, will putting a full system(Big Gun) jet-kit and air filter kit with sprocket change be worth it or stick to my current set up but maybe add jet-kit air filter and sprocket? I just want to know if there will be a NOTICABLE difference in power by adding the head-pipe. Also does anyone know which sounds better as far as White Bros. v/s Big Gun? What about Curtis Sparks? I just want to spend my money once and if I do I want to make sure it put's a HUGE smile on my face. I just don't want to fall for the typical marketing crap (ex. our pipes will out perform anyone elses with gains of 15hp blah...blah...blah). Someone point me in the right direction. Is it normal to not have hit the rev limiter on a Raptor? I was thinking that if i can't get it to hit the rev limiter than there must be alot of restriction going on. Is tis right.

If your quad hasn't been rejetted yet then you are probably running lower than stock with the slip-on (at least low end torque). Just about any change on the air intake or exhaust side will cause your jetting to be off. If it hasn't been rejetted yet then you would notice big improvements from opening the airbox up and rejetting. You might not even want to change your gearing. Recommend either cutting the baffles out of the snorkle or drilling holes into the airbox lid, or a combination of both. Personally, I only run with the first 2" of the airbox lid (so I can keep the air filter locked into place - just cut it off cleanly with a table saw). I also recommend the White Brothers Powerflow filter. It is less restrictive than the stock one yet is still a foam filter capable of keeping smaller dust particles from getting into the engine. Put a crankcase breather on the hose leading from the crackcase up to the snorkle.

I think I remember reading that there is an E-series slip-on for the stock headpipe and an entirely different one when using a new headpipe. I think the reason for this is that they have different diameters at the connection point. You can wait for someone else to confirm or call White Brothers.

Good Luck!

Notu is right on the money with his suggestions for your application.

On the full pipe issue, don't waste your $$. The full pipe on a stock engine will actually take away bottom end torque although the pipe sellers will not tell you this since they want to sell pipes.

On the sprocket issue, don't go smaller on the front except for a quick test. All sprocket changes must be made in the rear ie 41-43 The 43 will fit but you will need to space down the stock guard with some washers.

Hey Raptor720,
will a 13/43 combo require an added link to the chain?

thanks in advance!

I will require added links. I simply carry two chains -- one for the 13-41 combo and one for the 13-43 combo. These are the two most favorite gear combos for a stock to 102mm over bore. The 41 works great in dirt hills and the 43 works good in the sand on long hill climbs (sand mountain). I also like the 43 when playing in the dunes unless I am riding with fast riders then I stick with the 41.

I currently run the 12 tooth because I didn't know any better.
I would like to get a new sidewinder chain, 13 and 42 tooth sprockets, and keep the stock items for backup. I am leaning towards a new LoneStar axle first. Any thoughts?

Not up to speed on the LoneStar axles. I do have issues with their frames.

Durablue seems to be the way to go if you can swallow the price. I would still do the gears and chain first.

I wouldn't go with the full pipe unless motor mods are in your future.
