I am going to do a Swingarm on my 2001 Yamaha Raptor. I only ride in the sand. I am needing advice on weather to go 2 or 4 inches in the back. Any body have any good resources on the net where I can find information? And brand recomendations? I just don't like that feeling of start down in the trees going up the side of a dune and staring straight up at the sky as the front end pulls up from all the torque, this beast puts out.

I ride on the Oregon Dunes all the time, My friend just extended his Raptor Six inches!! In my opinion it is way too much, he has no problem climbing the steep stuff but he says he can't ride the whoops roads in the coos bay area as fast. I wouldn't suggest anymore than 3 or 4 inches depending on how much you plan to modify your Raptor. He took his swingarm to an aluminum fabrication shop here in Medford and had it extended for only $150!! He did a great job too!

I was at DuneFest there in Winchester Bay last month. One of the vendors had one with a +4". He said it was, "perfect". I'm having my stock one lenghtened +2". They say that you can adjust the chain out about another inch so it would be like having a +3". You'll have to get another chain anyways. Go for the +4 and I'm sure you wont be dissapointed.
