the Xplorer is a great mudding quad. it has more power than the polaris sp, which means you can get those tires spinning faster. it is alot lighter, you will float instead of sink. even though it does not have the same ground clearence of the IRS equipped sp, there is alot less moving parts to break which should improve reliability a lot. alot of sp owners have problems with the cv joints breaking like crazy when bigger tires are added. another good quad would be the yamaha grizzly and the kawasaki 650. they are both pretty light weight for their class. the kawasaki does have more torque and power than the grizz but the grizz has more ground clearence. they both come with locking front ends, which is a major plus. they should be even better mudding quads than the xplorer and on top of that, they are four strokes which are known for reliability. one guy did find an xplorer with 11,000 miles on it though. it all depends on what you want. hope i helped out some.
