I am going to save up all my money for the rest of the year and I am probably going to get a 4X4 with it. I am only 14 so I will probably only have about $1000 to work with. Alls I want to do is plow snow and go through mud water and snow. speed means NOTHING to me. What should I get I am open to any brand of 4X4, as long as it's got enough power to spin mud tires. WHAT SHOULD I GET ????

The Polaris Magnum 425 is a great all around quad.

If pulling power is important, but not speed, don't rule out anything from Arctic Cat. As a rule, they are geared lower for more pulling power than comparable machines.

As for the Mag 425, good machine, but avoid anything older than a '96 model.

Your more than likly wasting your time hoping to find a 4x4 ATV for only 1000 bucks, thats going to be REAL tough to find! But IF and WHEN you do find one,let us know what you get.Allmost any 4x4 ATV you can buy for a grand is worth it unless its really beat to hell and nothing works.I wish you the best of luck, and please keep us informed.

killer, get what YOUwant not what everybody tells you to get. When you get it, ride it proudly and often and enjoy it. They are all good machines some weigh more than others, and some people have better luck with different brands. Then there are those who still ride a machine that gives them nothing but trouble just so they have something to come in here and gripe about. Right Bill?

doggyrider,
than there are those of us who WORSHIP what we ride and are blind to the FACT that it is not without fault.

If the shoe fits ''wear it''

ALLatvs have faults Bill, some have more than others. Especialy when your glass is half empty. I do not worship Polaris, nor do I bash them for their inadequacies. I, along with many others in this forum enjoy riding and come here seeking help or information that will benifit us in one way or another. Even your information is helpful although sometimes it is mostly negative. Your insight has been a great help to many of the readers.

Maybe someday you will be of great help in another forum with an atv that will make you as happy as your Polaris does when it is running.
Personaly if I had as many repeated breakdown as you have, I would already be on another atv, but I guess some people just aren't happy unless they have something to bitch about

Soggyrider,
dispite what you posted,my Polaris Xplorer has NEVER broken down on me.It has however,WORN out many repeated parts.I like to replace parts at the FIRST sign of being worn, that way, they dont leave me broken down or stranded.

When the topic or a question of a certain Forum requests that a you list Polaris parts that have failed you,and I do just that,I am than listed as being negative or a basher by some Polaris worshipers and that is simple not the truth.

You have not been around these Forums long enough to hear what some other folks said about some of my earlier [98-99] Polaris posts? There were some readers that accused me of being a salesman for Polaris ATVs because I was so PRO Polaris. But as time went on,and the worn parts list added up,I become a little sour with Polaris and their ability to make parts that will hold up.Yes,its true,I will tell you or anyone else how I TRULY feel about a product, its effectiveness, and its downfalls.I'll even try to make a repeated worn part better with a mod, when applicable. Now if Polaris lovers have a want and desire to only read POSITIVE things about Polaris ATVs,than whats the sense in these Forums?Call me negitive or a basher if you need to,but I'd rather be in here telling ALL side's of the story to a possible newcomer and let him/her make the call?
A Bitcher?Maybe!
A Basher?I dont think so!
A negative attitude?Well, you can only be stepped on SO many times!

Bill you are correct,
one can only take so much before becoming negative towards a product. I have the same opinion of Fords, I like ford trucks, but every one I have owned (3), gave me constant problems. Now when I talk about Fords to others it may sound as if all Fords are junk, but many others must not have same luck as me. Because the don't seem to have the amount of problems I had. Not all fords are junk I am sure, but the ones I owned were.

You are also correct that we should have ALL sides of the story. Which is why we come here.
I don't think anybody should be afraid to tell somebody how they truly feel. I do the same.

I never did however, call you a bashser, A bitcher, yes. Which probably was uncalled for and not necessary. So for that I do apollogize.

Seriusly, what do you still like about Polaris(over other brands) and What keeps you on one? This way I have both sides of your story
No hard feelings....
