yamaha warranty
#2
I know that in South Africa there are a number of Raptors with gearbox problems (mainly guys who race) and Yamaha SA have refused to recognise that there is a problem. I have heard from one of the dealers that in order for them to do a recall there has to be a certain percent of faulty units which according to Yamaha - there aren’t.
My gearbox has been fine but as I have a 2001 model and the fact that the 2002 models gearbox has been changed (I assume to sort out the weak second gear) if something goes wrong I am in for about $700....
If Yamaha are so happy with the existing gearbox why have they changed in on the 2002 model?
I think Cannondale’s approach is correct - if they change anything on the first release of their bikes they retroactively fit the upgrades to all the existing bikes (info from ATV action)
