14 tooth frt sprocket question
#2
Well, I assume you are talking about the 300EX. No, you do NOT have to break the chain. All I did with mine was loosen the chain and it gave me enough slack. You have to toss the case saver or modify it to accompany the larger sprocket. You will GAIN top speed with a 14T, since stock is 13. You will notice the bike not wheen out so fast. Good investment and cheap.

all u have to do on the 400ex is loosen the chain all the way and take the old one off and slip the new one in my guess in top speed would be 1-3 mph cuz with mine 14/39 on my speedo i still get 63 and your not going up in the back so your top end loss will be minimal ok

Are you sure you want to do this mod? I had a 14 on for a while and it was great fun, but the front end was NEVER ON THE GROUND. I couldn't accelerate out of a turn, because I had no steering control!

How do you figure you'll LOOSE top speed with a larger front sprocket?
You will gain top speed by using a larger front sprocket unless your engine does not have the power to rev out as much as it did with the 13 tooth.
