Anybody have this kit or just the Pro-x 330 cylinder? How does it compare to a stock motor? Is it worth the money?
thanks,
Sean

There's a couple of ways to look at it. The most bang for your buck is a 310 kit from a reputable engine builder. They are a totally bolt on performance upgrade, you can easily put one on your bottom end in an afternoon. Anything bigger than a 310 requires machine work to your cases to accept the larger cylinder. Splitting your cases to do so will add up to some extra bucks out of your pocket. With that in mind, you might as well go to a 350 (skip the 330), because it expenxe is the same. Don't discount a 310 though, a good port job with the right pipe and carb will build a ton of USABLE power. Whatever you do, find a reputable engine builder (and one that can deliver in a timely manner) and stick with him, don't try to "piece" and engine together yourself, 2-strokes are very dynamic.

I have the CT310 cylinder on my 85 ATC250R and love it. But if I was smart I would have got the 350 kit. I ended up spending the same amount or more buying the 310 and then had to totally rebuild my crank. The 330 and 350 kit price INCLUDES spliting the case and rebuilding the crank plus the machining necessary for the bigger sleeve to fit. It is best to stick with the same company when modifying your engine. Find the company that makes engines run the way you would like it to run and it you will be better served. I wanted the most low-end and mid-range I could get and CT delivered the goods.

I have the CT Racing pro-x 330 kit in my R and i love it.The dif. from the 250 is night and day,I had it set up for woods racing so i got plenty of low end power and it still revs good.I had CT do my motor from top to bottom and couldn't be happier with the service and support I got from them when talking to them on the phone. They had it done in about 4 wks. like they told from the beginning.I will use CT Racing from now on to do my motor work atleast with this motor.later rpm

I would not go with CT
i have heard they do not fully port there jugs also thier customer service lacks serverally.
I would go with ESR 350 kit. I am pretty sure he uses the Pro-x cylinder (same a CT) but his porting work is superior and customer sevice is second to none.

My ESR ported 310 was nothing short of artwork. It is a shame that it has to be inside where it is not visible. The pre jetted carb they sent me was actually pre jetted correctly and it is fast. That dog will hunt!

I called ESR about my motor today. GREAT PEOPLE, and just by speaking with them on the phone, it makes me want to patronize him. Anyone have any comments on the ESR Stuff???

I have a complete CT 310 motor on my '87. I love it!!!! It is a completly new quad. A stock 250 is underpowered for the dunes, in my opionion. I would go ahead and get the 330 and get your bottom end rebuilt. I only ran 10 gallons of gas through mine before the bottom end went. Save your money and do the entire kit; top, bottom, carb, pipe, at once. My CT motor is not the fastest on the hill but that is not what it was built for. I have only had good experience with CT. Deal directly will Allen and you should have the same luck. I only live 1 hour away so I delt with him face to face. I think this made a difference. Have fun!!

I give a ringing endorsement for ESR. I have many of thier products on my personal ride and have been afforded the opportunity to test some of their other products as well. ESR's components are very much some of the best out there right now. Thier TRX-5 centermount pipe owns. They have SUPER customer service and can turn your product in a very short period of time as compared to many other places. As mentioned, I do not hesistate any way to give ESR my reccomendation, they've done thier homework, put out great performing, functional, and quality products, and have superb customer service to back it up!!!
