i ordered some mud trackers from treadepot.com and they claim 29 pounds front and 39 rear thats with the 27" and douglas 190

here is a break down

fronts 27 x 9 x 12 on 7 " wide wheels

rears 27 x 12 x 12 on 8 " wide wheels

i forgot the back spacing that was ordered per douglas's recomendations.so i am hoping they treat me right.

is there anyone runing 27 on their prairie yet?

and i would really like to know the weight of the stock rim and tire combo??

ill follow up once i get them and let you know how they work

i put 27" ITP 589's on my stock rims. Let me tell you they are a lot heavier than the stock combo. I'd say at least 15 pounds per wheel. They ride great but I did rip the front axle out. I'm going now to kaw website to look at parts diagram and will post a new message

i figured this would be a good topic but i didnt recieve much action her is what i figured out i recieved my goodyears from treadepot.com ordered them on a tuesday got em on friday not bad.

i took the batroom scale out to weigh the diferences.

front tire and rim combo stock 21 pounds new ones are 26 pounds not bad

rear tire and rim combo stock 24 pounds new ones 42 pounds big diference.

put em on and the 650 is a little slower coming out of the whole but still gets up and moves.can still wheelie her down the road with a little tug on the handelbars.easier turning radius as its eaiser to put it up in the two side wheels.havent tried it yet on any large hills or mud or on a fast tight trail.it also takes more effort to slow the machine down.

looks are impressive if thats your bag and one thing that i realized that 27" is how tall a stock toyota 4x4 tire is wow.

feel free to coment and i should be able to get some pics together to share soon.

i will also post some more after i take it for a real ride.

no pictures yet to tired to get the bike and camera out but soon i will post some pictures as the looks are awsome.

here is my ride report i went for a 60 mile ride first off it looks that the bike only will get about 50 miles on a tank full glad i brought the gas can.Second the ride was on every type of terrian possible in this area of florida. Sand,Swamp,Grass,Hardpack, and of coarse Mud.Here are a list of things that i observed and if you notice i put them in a + or - fashion and keep in mind that your opinions may differ.

+
that litle bit of ground clearence comes in hand as on many trails used buy 4 wheelers are not running as big of tires and i am tracking about the same track not outside if there rutts.

can still toss the rear out with throttle input but now there is alot of dirt being pushed out

easier stearing

if you hold the front brake and give some throttle it pushes the front tires instead of the rears just spinning out.

hill climbes are easeir as there is no wheel spin then catching then lifting the front up and then you know what happens

awsome traction

*** end dosent hop as bad through the whoops as the rear is now a little heiver and when you catch air the rear comes down a litle faster and lands alot softer.

no feeling of tipping

dosent want to fall into ruts it crushes em some time i would catch a front tire in one and the bike would want too get hooked the same with stumps or obstacles in the trail.now you are trully a big monster quad and nothing seems to catch it.

mud traction works great just give her hell and she runs through it.

walked up a few canals with steep banks with the locker squezzed and not a problem here

water now shoots away from bike instead of up on you

-

vibration at certain steady cruising speeds made my trottle hand get tingly and fall asleep

im running 4 pounds all the way around and when you hit somthing the shock is sharper to the arms may try to lower pressure to iliminate that feature.

top speed 58mph acording to the spedo i only had it up to 61 with the stockers but i used a better area to open her up this time i beilieve if i had the stockers in the same stretch i would go faster

harder to stop and whoa this thing down

keeps you a little busier at high speed hardpack type trails as its more like a hovercraft it floats side to side but never spins out or gave out when pushed to hard.

all and all great upgrade just have to learn a little and deal with the added weight as it was a little more fatiged buy the end of the day.i am very happy and would definitly recomend them and if you are still not sure do what i did i was a little woried but thats why i bought a rim and tire combo so the stockers can be put back on if needed and the way this market is going somebody will buy your big monster tires from you as the quads are just getting bigger and bigger all the time . i will keep mine on untill i find a reason to take em off.

Time for a math lesson

Circumference = 2 * pi * radius or 2 * pi * (diameter / 2)

Old tires: 25" diameter = 78.57" circumference = 806.41 revolutions per mile
New tires: 27" diameter = 84.86" circumference = 746.64 revolutions per mile

If we assume the speedometer was correct on the old tires:
61/806 = x/746 or x = 746*61/806 which gives a speed reading of 56.46 miles/hour for the new tires.

If your speedometer read 58mph on the new tires the speed on the old ones would be:
x/806 = 58/746 or x = 58*806/741 which gives a speed reading of 63.09 miles/hour on the old tires, which is the actual speed you were going.

Your speedometer is calibrated to the smaller tires, so with bigger ones it will have a lower reading for the same speed. After changing tire sizes you can get a true speed reading using a radar gun, timed distance, or a GPS. The speedometer is not accurate until it recalibrated for the new size tires.

thanks for the math lesson but its no secret that the speedo would be not correct.I need to get the gps out to find out how correct the speedo is from the get go.here is one for you.you would think that i now have a faster top speed as i know have a different gear a taller one know that the tires are larger in diamiter? Also you talk as the speedo can be re calculated how would you do it?

If the speed was only related tot he gear ratio, you would be correct. Friction, torque and a number of other factors comein to play to determine the top speed.

I don't know of any way to recalculate the speedometer short of reprogramming the computer. Some of the computers for bicycles can be adjusted for different tire sizes, so maybe Kawasaki's can too.

Good luck. Like you said, the GPS will be your best bet.
