Just picked up my new 2002 Sportsmant 500 HO. I would love to remove those annoying warning stickers that are all over each of the 4 fenders. Does anyone have any suggestions??

I have tried Goo-Gone (only works after the sticker is gone), Carb cleaner, a hair drier to heat up the glue (doesn't work). I would really like to remove these. Thanks in advance for your help.

Since your new to the forum I'll let you in on a little secret. I have found it helpful without waiting for replies. Click on search and enter key words. For this you would enter "Sticker" AND "Removal" and you will come up with two posts. You will come up with more if you enter just "Sticker".

Thought I would tell you before the veterans did!

I applied a low heat, like a hair dryer, and slowly picked up a corner with my fingers. Just go back and forth slowly until you remove the entire sticker. You can us Goo Gone for the residue. I would stay way from carb cleaners if you like your plastics. Also don't hold the heat source too close otherwise you may burn/melt your plastics.

Thanks goofieones, I appreciate the insight. I washed the plastic after the carb cleaner just to be safe.

You might get lucky if you remove thte stickers as soon as you can before the sun bakes them on.I took them off my 2002 H.O. the day after I got It home.I removed 7 stickers, all came off just fine with a hair dryer except one and I know I picked at it for at least an hour any glue thats left on the plastic will come off with wd-40 and an old "T"-Shirt for a rag.I also used car wax to make the plastic shine from where the stickers had left a dull outline.

A power washer will blast them right off, and wd-40 and elbow grease will get off the glue residue.

Good luck.

Just took mine off my 2000 Xplorer last week. Since they had been on there for a long time they were stuck hard! I used a high pressure spray washer I have at work. It took some time to blast them off but at least I did not have to use elbow grease. The spray washer did not seem to "pit" the plastic either like it did on an ole Honda XR I have. There is still some sticky residue left, but I plan on rubbing it off with some brake fluid or WD-40. Best of luck, and get them off soon before they really are stuck fast.

Yeah thats how i remove mine, with a hairdryer, i heat up one corner so that i can start peeling and then just move the hairdryer back and forth over the sticker, keep it moving to keep from getting the plastic too hot and like the dude said before don't hold it too close, and that should get it off just fine, then clean the residue, if any is left with some WD-40 and a rag! That should work!

I just removed mine from my wife's '01 Trail Boss last weekend. Seems like there were 2 different types of stickers. The ones on the front fender came right off with the hair dryer but those on the rear fender and fuel cell kept shredding and took lots of work by hand. Used goo gone for the residual. Bike was only 6 weeks old so there was no fading but she's got a fresh coat of wax anyhow. good luck.

I just thought of this. If you are having a hard time removing your stickers, just cover them up with a fresh coat of mud!
