Well, I would have to say the Mojave of the 3 you listed. The Warriors reverse setup sucks and it usually is slower than the Mojave stock. The Mojave I feel is faster than the 300EX out of the box too. Of the 3 I would only look at the Mojave and 300EX but you cant beat the price of the Kawasaki. I've seen older ones (they're all the same) go for $1000 in decent shape. There are plenty of mods out there for the Mojaves now too, swingarms, a-arms, pipes, cams, big bore kits (try a 411cc kit if you dont think they're quick enough), awesome shocks, it goes on and on. Good luck to you, Aaron.

Scratch the Warrior off you list. It is one of the most undr powered quads and worst handling quad I have seen in the "sport" category.

If you want power, speed and pep, get the Mojave. At $3000 out the door new at a lot of dealers you cant beat it. It smokes, 300EX's and Warrior's. I know of a 2000, Mojave, jetted, WB E-sires, K&N and Turf Tammers for $2500 and it stays neck and neck with my 2001 400EX until I hit 5th gear. It is an amazing quad for a 250. Look at the engine design; dual overhead cams, 4 valve head, liquid coolling...

If you want finese, handling and reliablity, get the 300EX. With handling cues like the 400EX, you cant go wrong.

Note: I a 2001 Warrior and it sucks!

The honda has a graet chasis with good suspention.
The warrior is heavy on the front but I understand it has a nice top end (I've not seen the top end due to the race is usualy over before it gets thier)
The mojave is a graet machine. Don't let the 250cc fool you.
I don't know how much money your talking about but the mojave is at most $3600 rite now.
I would take your parents and show them how much a used quad is and then bring them to kawi.
I believe a mojave should be able to be gotten for $3500 out the door.

And as far as honda goes, well lets just say you pay probably a grand for the name.
Good luck and hope you get one soon!!!!

I own both a Mojave and a 300EX. I personally like the 300EX better but I did have some great times with the ol' Mojave. I have to say that I prefer the Electric start over the kick start. Mostly when they kick starter gets wet, then your foot slips, then can you say intense pain in your shin. But the Mojave is a great trail machine as is the 300EX. I found that the 300EX is more tippy partly due to it being lighter. But it also means the 300 jumps better, and also the 300 has better suspension. The Mojave always seemed to stiff and bottomed to easily. I have had drag races between the two, but they weren't really fair because the Kawi was in bad need of a top end job (still is) at the time the Kawi was no faster than my brother's little XR80, probably slower actually. But it was quite fast when it was newer. The reverse is easier on the Mojave but after a while the 300EX reverse procedure becomes second nature and you never think about it to much. The choke location is better on the Mojave but again the 300EX's becomes second nature as well, I don't even have to look anymore. I can tell you that the Mojave is very reliable and so is the Honda. I prefer the Honda's light because it's brighter and goes where you want it to. But I like the Kawi's handlebars better because they have a cross bar. But I like the cover better on the 300 (personal preference). The steering is also a little easier on the Mojave, but it tends to turn to easily at times. The tires are better on the 300EX. The airbox is better on the 300EX. It's easier to check the oil on the Mojave, and to add it for that matter. Ok I think thats all. Oh as for the Warrior, I don't have a clue, I have never ridden one. But as for the 300EX and Mojave I think that's a pretty unbiased opinion for them.

I have ridden a Warrior (my brother used to own one) and I used to have a 250X which is the same as a 300EX but lighter and about 30 cc's smaller. All three machines are very similar in weight, about 380-390lbs. The Warrior has a bigger heavier feel to it because it is a physically larger machine. The Mojave hides it weight well and doesn't feel much different from my old 250X except when you pick it up by the grab bars.

I perfer the high revving snappy power of the Mojave over both the 250X and the Warrior. The 250X was smooth and had better low end power than the Mojave but it always felt gutless. The Mojave has a hit when it comes on cam, kind of similar to a two stroke. You just have to learn to ride the Mojave differently than the other four strokes becasue if you don't rev it out in every gear than you arn't experiencing the full potential of the Mojave motor.

Ergonomically the other two machines are more comfortable than the Mojave. I'm going to order taller handlebars for mine to help it out. Reliability wise all are good. The Mojave has a more complicated engine but it has proven to be practially bullet proof when left stock or near stock. The Mojave also tends to keep its oil in better looking shape than the air cooled Honda. Nevertheless I still change my Mojave's oil as often as I did in my 250X.

Back in '97 I had the 250X and my brother had a '94 Mojave. We would race all the time and he was always quicker than me but I would have a higher top speed. Back then my brother had 20" tires on his Mojo so I know that limited his top speed. Stock, my Mojave is quick but it runs out of gears way to fast. At full throttle you find yourself looking for 6th gear which you don't have. At wide open the Mojo sounds like it is going to blow up. I'm in the process of ordering a 1 tooth larger countershaft sprocket to help it out. At higher speeds the Warrior does pretty well. It just takes it a while to get there.

Okay, this is a long post. Basically all the machines are good. If you want a big machine that has decent power, clumsy handling and kind of rolls up to top speed get a Warrior. If you want the convience of E-start, smooth but boring power get a 300EX. If you want snappy power, good handling, but a smaller machine get the Mojave. I couldn't justify the $800 price difference of the 300EX compared to the Mojave. Additionally, back when I had my 250X and couple guys in town bought 300EX's to replace their thrashed 250X's and said the 300EX was no faster than their old machines. We never did drag race so I can't say whether that is true or not. I'm not a big 300EX fan and never will be so I'm slightly biased. But for me to choose between the 250X, Warrior and Mojave? I'd go Mojave every time.

Ryan1685:

What's I'm 18 and I own A Mojave and there is no question about it, go with the Mojave. I'm not just saying this because I own a Mojave, it's just the better of all three quads. Why settle for a 300EX or warrior, when you can get a liquid cooled, 4 valve, double overhead cam engine. Don't get me wrong the other two are also good but the Mojave is better. And the suspension is just as good as the Honda, and Warrior. The Mojave has a great feel if your not to big and the weight of it is fine. It handles great, and is very quick for it's size. The speed is the same on the Mojave and 300EX, the warrior is ahead just by 3-5mph. But you can fix that in a second. The Mojave is also the cheapest of the 3 giving you some extra money to spend on some mods if you want. Overall the Mojave is better and you can't beat the price. Also keep checking these forums, because ever scince I did I have found so much for the Mojave that I didn't even know was around.

Peace out!

Ryan1685,

Seriously, you need to go look, ride, and price the 3 bikes you're interested in, whether new or used. Although many will try to give an unbiased opinion, few will. I have known people that have had each of the bikes you mention, and everyone liked the quad they had. I personally own a 300EX. All 3 bikes should be fairly reliable. Larger framed people will like the Warrior due to it being a fairly large bike. Although it is not fair, there are many more aftermarket accessories for the Yamaha and Honda than for the Mojave. The Mojave's best point is its price, especially if you are looking at buying new.

If you go to the Yamaha forum, most will tell you to get the Warrior.....

If you go to the Honda forum, most will tell you to get the 300ex.....

And you can see here in the Kawasaki forum, most will tell you to get the Mojave.
