I have been surfing around and noticed that they sell a twist throttle for most ATV's. Why would you want a twist throttle ? I ride bikes and I'm used to them but I heard its hard to ride a ATV with a twist throttle, thats why the manufacturers use the thumb throttle. Just wondering. Thanks

when your braking and your thumb is on
a throttle what part of your hand is
gripping the handle bars?

It is much easier to ride harder with the twist because yor hand is always on the grp and dont have to let go like with a thumb. It is just much easier to eep the throttle steady when in bumpy sections ad when turning quickly. Plus your thumb never gets tired after a long day of riding. Also when doing hill climbs you can use your entire hand to hold on better and keep on the throttle. I personaly much prefer the twist on quad.

I still use the thumb, because that's how they come, but I have to wonder since I feel the same as above, who's bright idea was it to use thumbs, anyway? Why?

personally i like twist throttles on the right quads. on my 400EX i'd never want one but if i had a 250r i would. i had one on my LT and it was great. it took a while to get used to but after a while it was perfect.

Care to share why you feel different on different models? I feel I'd like it the same on all of mine. Wanting different setups on different bikes sounds a little odd, so I'm curious.

What do people who RACE ATV's use ? or is it a mix ? The reason for the question was because I heard that because a ATV doesnt lean over like a bike does that it is harder to stay consistent with a twist throttle........doesnt really make sense to me but I have never rode one with a twist throttle. Do the Banshee's come stock with the Twist Throttle ?

I like twist throttle for long rides because it is more comfortable for me. Also in the winter riding your thumb doesn't get real cold when using a twist.

I think it comes down to personal preference. I prefer the thumb throttle and really don't like the twist. When riding a twist I'm either cracking it open or shutting it down at inappropriate times. I know a lot of guys that ride Shees that prefer them as they are pulling two carb slides/springs and it's much less tiring and easier. If you prefer one over the other, use it.
