Try contacting HPD in MN they sell tachs that work on the 4 stroke. You can use a car tach but you would be on your own as far as wiring.

As far as I know you will not be able to use a car tach because the least amount of cylinders they will read is 4. But Digitron makes a tach that reads right off of your plug wire, we use them for our racing go-karts and I think they have one for more than a single cylinder engine like we run. Check the racing kart sites and maybe you can find one. Hope this helps.

Your 700, if it's like mine, already has a tachometer. It's on the digital part of the speedometer{where the hour meter and odometer are}. Page 61 in your owners manual explains how to activate it. I have'nt actually tried it on mine yet, but thats what the book says. love'in my 700 so far!!!
