Any C-dale owners ride Wayne NF in Ohio?
#3
Seriously, are there any C-Dale owners out there that ride at Wayne National Forest? If there are any from out of the area and are interested in riding Wayne National Forest, let me know. Some friends and myself are always interested in acting as trail guides (informal) and introducing new riders to the area.

Wayne is mostly tight 2nd and 3rd gear single track. Some of the trails are in the process of being widened and groomed. All the trails are marked and you have to stay on them, no freeriding or trail blazing of your own. We ride at the area just northwest of Athens. There are around 60 miles of trails. I have been there 3 times, riding for over 4 hours each time and have covered maybe 1/3 of whats out there. The terrain is hilly and challenging, but not extreme. From Cleveland it would be around 3-3.5 hours. If you have ever been to OU, you were only about 20 minutes away. Check this website, http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/wayne/, for more info.

As far as public lands go, there is a state riding area in New Lexington, which is in the same general area. Check this website, http://www.fs.fed.us/r9/wayne/ for info on Wayne and this website, http://www.hcs.ohio-state.edu/ODNR/Forests/genvisit.htm for info on state land. I know of a place called Wellsville down near East Liverpool that's not official but is state owned land that you can ride at. It is supposed to be really good. I will know for sure over the Thanksgiving weekend. I am making my first trip there on Saturday the 24th. By the way, what part of Cleveland are you from? I grew up in Avon Lake and my family still lives there. Thats where I'll be on Thanksgiving.

I went to Wellsville last weekend. It is a pretty sweet riding area. Lots of technical hill climbs, a variety of soil types, and a very interesting mix of people and machines from quads to bikes to jeeps and 4x4s to rail buggies. To get there, take SR 11 south from the Youngstown area to East Liverpool. Take SR 7 south to the Clark Rd. exit. Take Clark Rd. south. You will pass a Quality Liquid Feed plant. Keep on going and follow the crappy, run down road (Clark Rd.) for about 3 miles past the QLF plant into a big gravel parking area. You are there, it almost reminds you of a scene out of the Road Warrior.
