Scrambler 500 beater?
#4
If the Scrambler 500 is indeed the same speed as the Scrambler 400 (stock for stock) then it will have NO trouble beating a 300ex at all (in a flat out drag race). The 300ex is a great handling bike, but it was not meant for speed...they are a little on the slow side (I'm not trying to bash the 300ex...what they don't have in speed they make up for in other places).
I saw your post in the Yamaha forum...Read the answers there and remember that the 300ex is not as fast as the Warrior.

That's funny...You shouldn't have anything to prove against the Polaris anyway. Everybody says that they are big and slow so if you win you won't suprise anybody. Just make sure that you get a quad where you have no chance in losing because if you get beat by a Polaris you will be looking for the closest rock to crawl under. Just ask my buddy with a Warrior.

I think that all Polaris quads suck. Especially the Srambler quads that Polaris makes. To answer your question, I believe that a 300ex will beat a Scrambler 500. If you want to just beat a Scrambler, yeah you can get away with it on the 300ex. But if you want to beat a Scrambler unmercifully and make the rider on the Scrambler assamed, get the 400ex. Trust me I have drag raced both my 300ex's and my 400ex against my friends' 1999 Scrambler and beat him on both machines.
The Scrambler in my opinion, weighs too much and is underpowered. Seriously, the Scrambler weighs almost twice as much as a 300ex. When I raced my friends quad I got him on the start with both machines but he eventually caught up with me with his Scrambler while I was riding my 300ex. As for the 400ex vs. the Scrambler, it was funny as hell. I got him on the start and ran away. He couldn't catch me.
I agree with AlaskaYFM, "why would you want a Scambler, you don't have and foot coordination." Go with a Honda or a Yamaha because you can't win on a Polaris. They always end up getting their ***'s kicked.

I know that everybody has a right to their own opinion, but a 300ex will never beat a Scrambler in a drag race. It just won't happen. A Warrior will beat a 300ex and a Scrambler will smoke a Warrior so figure that out.
I will agree that the Scrambler is a bit too heavy, but I would pick it any day over a 300ex or Warrior. I'm not really into MX or racing on the trails so those quads don't appeal to me at all. When we ride the trails we ride the serious trails where speed doesn't matter 90% of the time. My 2x4 Scrambler can go through the obstacles much easier than any other 2 wheel drive quad I had ridden (and I'm running it on the worn down stock tires). I ride with a guy on a Warrior, 300ex, and Banshee, and they are all impressed at where that thing will go. Now, the reason I ride the Banshee 99% of the time is because when we get to the wide open areas, or really fast sections on the trails it's amazing. Even when we hit those sections when I'm riding my Polaris the Warrior and the 300ex just get left behind.
It's whatever appeals to you I guess. I'm either riding really slow on the tough trails, or we're riding in an area where handling doesn't matter and speed does. If there is anybody else out there like me then the 300ex is not the quad to pick. Heck, even the 400ex doesn't cut it in those situations. A modded 400ex wouldn't stand a chance in a flat out drag race against a modded Scrambler.
Anyway I guess replying to the last post was pointless. Like I said, it's whatever appeals to you. What you ride should depend on where you ride. You guys are right...A Scrambler in stock form would totally suck at any MX type event. It doesn't handle good, and it's huge. On the other hand a 300ex felt like a kids bike (I guess anything does compared to a Polaris), and it's just too slow for the type of riding that I do.
The question above just asked "Will a 300ex beat a Scrambler". He didn't state what type of race. I assumed it was a drag race.
