300EX mods

on a stovk 300ex what would be the cheapest way to make it faster or as fast as a 400EX i know ill need a pipe, filter, and jets (or carb) but should i get a high comp. piston, cam, valves, and valve springs, or do i need a 330 sleeve too? thanks for any help

Pipe is a deffinate. Bigger front sprocket I'd go +1 and on the rear sprocket -3. I'd go with a 400EX carb it's 2mm bigger I think. Then get a filter. Take the air boot off a 350X and put that on. It's bigger so you get more flow. If that isn't fast enough get a cam and some stiffer valve springs. I don't know if only this will make it faster for sure. I did my engine all at once so I don't know the least mods that you need to have. Currently I'm running a 330 kit on my, X 11:1 compression, Powroll 3" Supertrapp exhaust with header, ported head, uni air filter, +1mm valves, stiffer valve springs with titanium retainers, megacycle cam, FST oil cooler, polished exhaust. The carb is stock except I removed the choke plate to reduce air turbulance. Removing the choke plate will give you about a +2hp gain. I'm going to go to the 400EX carb and 350X intake after I get my +2 A-Arms and works shocks. Hope this helps!

you need a FULL 330 motor!!!! I mean FULL!!! Just buy a 400ex!!! You would need to spend around $2400 to get a 400ex beater. Save the money and get a 400. If you were in the position i was 2 years ago (dad made me stay w/ my 300 to learn) then maybe do a high compression piston, drop in cam, 32 mikuni carb, exhaust, and high rev cdi but anything else either put into chassis or save for 400

On my 300ex I have a 350x airbox boot, uni filter,125 main jet,And I took the lip off the stock header pipe.
In a drag with a scrambler 500 4x4 and a moded sport 400 I was right behind both.We where all having trouble launching.Except the 500.I was pulling the front end up,the sport has a racing clutch and we where having trouble getting a good launch and when U could it would almost wheelie over. The 500 just put it in 4wd and took off.We raced for about 2 hours switching between a bunch of people. This was an extremely short race I could get my bike in 4th gear and then have to get off the gas and on the brakes. It was about 50 yards long.
I have 20 inch razr's on my bike.I was extremely impressed how well these mods helped.Next thing I am going to get is a K&N filter and maybe a white bro's pro meg full system. This should wake it up even more!

They had a shootout in one of the mags. 300EX vs SCRAMBLER 400 2X4. The sport won in a drag by a decent amount, But the 300 preformaned soo much better on the track and the scrambler did better in the woods i think. 01mxblaster, get a 250R and you'll easily beat the 400
