....anyone ever use a steering damper on their quad? I have a 2002 400EX and I mainly trail ride in Connecticut, and the rocks and tree stump/roots seem to want to rip the bars out of nmy hands when I get going pretty fast. I heard that they only cost about $130 or so...not too bad if they work.

A steering dampener will cure your problem. I had one on my 300EX and you could fly all day long with one hand. It took all the jolts out of the bars. I have yet to cough up the cash for my current rides, but dampeners are on the list.
