650 ?'s and my thoughts
#1
I've got 500 miles on my 650 now and here's my thoghts. FIRST - my top speed is 62. Some of the shoot-outs said 65+, I know that you can't beleive everything those rags write but what is everyone eles running? Second - I flipped the darn thing going down a hill I shouldn't have been, but I feel the front shocks had something to do with it. Are the heavier spings available yet? Only damage was scratched plastic, a small tree kept my quad from taking off down the hill flipping nose to tail. Third - other than the soft front suspension, this thing is great. Keep up the informative post Jeff!

I've read alot lately about the magazines trying to attack the prairie, just on thier pro honda crusade I believe.
I don't have a prairie but keep up with all your post, and yes jeff has lead the way on some realy good stuff.
I live in louisiana, wich is well known to be a sportsmans paradise, I'm originally from conneticut and can tell you, thiers no better sportsman orientated place on earth.
Down hier we have many utility, or sport utility quads, I ride with them quite a bit and thier reviews mean more to me than any of these so called magazine test pilots.
No matter what make or model, all the owners rave about the prairie, and this says alot to me.
So when we here about the prairies up and coming attacks from the honda want a bees, take more thought of public review than these idiots.
Try not to kill your self.

My 650 has 1100 miles and does 63 mph. The dealer said he thought every speedometer is different. if you want to really know, borrow a GPS from someoneone. Yes they are supposed to have stiffer springs but some people are having trouble ordering them. Appears the dealers are not getting part numbers yet.

Hi,
I also am going with the stiffer springs.I broke my collar bone2 months ago on mine doing a powerslide,i think the stiffer front springs would have helped in me not flipping it.I only weigh 160 and that dosent help.I love this ATV.I did however stall it in 3-3 1/2 ft of water yesterday and the clutch got wet and i had a hell of a time getting it out(collar bone still healing).I broke my warn winch and havent ordered the part yet(thats a whole other story) but i will first thing Monday.

Hope that helps

That was supposed to be 2-2 1/2 feet,or 24-30".Sorry for the typo.I didnt proof read it.
It didnt take on any water,i think it stalled because i was at an idle going in to the water.I have had it in the river in 2ft of water for 10-15 min at a time with no problems.Do you think the clutch got wet because it stalled and was sitting idle in the water for about 5 min.?

Pickup my 650 Kawasaki yesterday took out today .This is a great ride but it need stiff stocks or something in the rront .It does feel VERY soft .Feel like i can turn it over on hard sharp turns.
Can it be the stock tires?
Does anyone have other tires on ?
Was thinking of putting on 26 mt589 or 26 mudruuner or are they call mud bugs.WIll the 26 fit on stock rims?
I did bend the front rim today .
Top speed so far on pavement was 59 and had more to go. I did get stuck today in 3 ft of clay .I throught it was aliitle mud and sunk in the stuff. Had ATV up to the headlights only part out was 1/2 of back tirs .Then I got off and sunk up to my waist in this Sh%^.Thanks god for other riders otherwise I would still be struck.
Would you believe 2 Yahamas had to pull me out .I hooked the belt to the back rack never bent it. Also never stalled .The grate in fron of the radiator stopped clay from getting into it. took 2 hrs to clean have more to do tomorrow.
Overdrive worked great was throwing clay 20ft getting out.
I hear a knock coming from left side gear box when I hit bak back real hard Is this normal.
Anyway we will have to do something about the soft front end feeling.
When you guys fine out new front stocks Please post it here.
What about diffent tires.
I have to try something before I flip it .
