Clear Coating a Polished Liquid Cooled Motor
#2
Phil,
I polished the entire engine on my 86 TRX250R but didn't clear coat it or anything. Every now and then I'll "wash" the motor with 1500 grit wet sand paper then repolish with Mothers aluminum polish. This works well but you have to keep up with it. That reminds me...my motor is about due for a good polishing. Oh well, better pop open a fresh can of "elbow grease"...

After my 400cc Wicked Warrior build and motor hop-up, I ground off all the exterior casting marks and radius'd all sharp edges on the case. Buffed it to a hi shine, then clear coated it with PJ1 hi-temp clear coat. So far no yellowing peeling or other. Yup it looks just fine!

About how long ago did you do that?
How much do you ride?
I doubt my three wheeler will be ridden much. I only get to the dunes about once a year. When I am done, it will only be ridden in dry sand... This is too much work!
thanks
