I was out the other day on my Ranger ES running down the road and going through the gears and I noticed that at the top of the RPMs before I up-shifted I got some miss-firing, not to the point that the Rancher would slow down, but pressing my thumb more wouldn't get it any faster. Is this normal?
I was in 3rd going to 4th and 4th going to 5th gear.

thanks
gary

Hi Gary you just revved the Rancher high enough to reach the rev limiter, you can reach it in any gear. You can even reach it with the quad stopped, if you open up the throttle. It will not over rev just flutter, sounds like it is breaking down but just cutting off the spark. I think you will be happy, I had mine for over 2 years and 5200 kilometers. Has been up to the limiter many many times and never missed a beat.

Terry,
How far would you say the throttle is pressed in when the rev limiter kicks in?
I've still got a few more mm til I hit the stop on the thumb pedal.

thanks

it's completely rpm dependant in nuetral the rev limit may be achieved at 1/3 throttle or less, depending on what kind of gunk you are running in the case.
