Now that my insurance company has coughed up the check for my stolen 700.I'm ready to get another one.I've seen where you guys have had probs with water pump leaking so I wanted to make sure that Oct 31 manufacture date was late enough 'cuz he has two bikes in crates one of which is a late Sept model and the other Oct 31 (the day mine was stolen)I hope that is late enough...While I was there today I rode the 650 Kawi again making sure I'm getting the right bike.NOW I'm positive ..alltho it accelerates quicker and looks cool riding wheelies everywhere it just raises up the rear wheels because of the straight axle when turning way too easily for my comfort. I dont "jump" when I ride or any crazy crap so the comfort of the IRS on the SP700 and the great torque for hauling big game will be perfect for ME <----- see that? thats for me if you like your 650's &660's [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]good . My SP700 had the water pump cover and o-ring replaced in mid November. The bike was built on 9/19/01. The replacement cover appears to be the same as the one that came on the bike originally. I have heard that Polaris is working on a permanent solution to this problem, but has not yet done so. You could call Polaris at 763-542-0500. You can talk to a real person at this number. As far as the Oct. 31 production date goes, I don't think any changes were made except the 20 amp fan breaker upgrade and the SP500 style rear rack mounting bracket.

 

My 700 (mfg. 9/21/01) had the leaking water pump cover as well. Parts to fix are on backorder currently so I took the cover off myself and removed the o-ring. I then applied a liberal amount of silicone sealer in to the o-ring groove and then loosely placed the o-ring back in to place. Replaced the cover and tightened the bolts to just past finger tight. I let the silicone set up for a day then tightened the bolts another 1/2 turn or so. Rode the quad all weekend and no sign of a leak. Hopefully this will at least provide a temporary fix for those of you affected by this problem until Polaris comes up with a permenant solution.

 

Thanx for the replies [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img] Today I went to the dealer and assembled some accessories on my bike woo-hooo its lookin good. Mentioning the rear rack support was a big help cuz the dealer had a chrome rear rack extender but it didn't fit my Sept.19 700. So today I put on the rack extender , chrome double bumper and got the light pod ready for them to install the heated grips wiring . Tomorrow they will install the #2500 winch ,hand guards & warmers then we'll wait for the front rack extender. This is going to be a great machine, recently I got a GPS for it and a jump starter with 12 air compressor (18lbs). I just hope it doesn't leak like some others altho it does sound to be a simple fix. Thx again

Does your dealer actually have a Warn 2500 kit to fit the Sportsman 700? I have had one on order at my dealer since I got my SP700 in September. He got two of the A2000 kits to fit the SP700 about two weeks ago but still no sign of the A2500s. Congrats on your new SP700.

 

Hey GUY ...yes he does have a #2500 lb winch for it and while I was there I remember someone asking in this forum (maybe you) about them so I asked the counter/parts man and he thought he has two..I told him that you were interested from anywhere in the country(to ship) but then I got busy on my bike and didn't get back with him.
