My brother (lives 1200 miles away) has a set of 250R shocks, do you think I could get them to fit without a torch and welder

Well, bud, I think you would be better off buying new set of Works set up for your weight. I'm sure the shocks are going to have to have some modifications to get them on, fronts anyway, unsure if the rear can just mount or not.

Yah, I think your rite, just was wondering if any one tried.
Maybe I'll put them on ebay and use the money towards a new set. 98lakota found him a new set, maybe I'll go with the same kind.
I went racing yesterday, went up against my first warriors. Hate to say it, maybe in a drag, but moto, no way, they didn't stand a chance against the lakota.

Ya know stebob this is the only place were I here the lakota dogged on, when I'm at the track, they praise the little kawi.
I even ran up against some 300EX's, no challenge.
I posted two third places, behind a 400EX and a raptor, and if I had some tires I would have taken that raptor.
I just want to find some shocks soon, but as you know I'm working on skids and tires.

Let me ask you another question, my pipe has gotten quite louder sense I've changed to a #130 main, do you think it's because my jetting is better or do the IDS2 blow some of the packing out over time??

Hows the boy doing on the mean machine?

Well Gaff, I have to be honest, I've ridden a Raptor and your looking at rider skill, the Raptor will just destroy our Lakotas. I mean without even thinking about it. Holy cow those things are fast.

I have also put the 130 jet in, haven't got the opp. to "fine" tune. Response and mid range are def. noticable, but I think I'm gonna have to play with the idle screw. Not strong off idle, I'm 2 1/2 turns out. I still have a drip of fuel out of my float bowl drain tube. I adjusted my floats but they are not paralell like you adv in fact they are tilted up more, they were tilted down. I had same prob. when they were level. I checked my fuel level with clear tubing and I am just under the mating surface of the carb and float bowl. I would like to get a fuel gauge. Have you ever seen one? The manual says to have the "0" on the guage even with the mating sureface and that the fuel should be .5 +/- 1mm. I don't have a clue where .5 would be but I do know it would be below the mating surface. I know I'm on top of the prob. since I had fuel gushing and now it's a drip......drip......drip. I ran out of time, so I'll have to get into it sometime soon.

I don't think the 130 would make much diff, if any, in sound, you have prob. blew out some packing, like you suspect. Try 10 disks, that's what I run now, Happy with perf. so far and really like the sound and level of sound.

BTW - The boy is loving his little quad. My ole' lade is going to get pictures developed on CD so I can send them to you.

Don't get me wrong about the raptor,I rode one to. Tell you the truth I don't know if it was in third or forth but I fethered the clutch just a touch and nailed the gas and bam, front end straight up in the air and bam about sixty in no time.
I just think the lakota is just so damn quick on the track!!!
I plan on playing with my disc soon, but All my time is in riding only. I have guest down from up north and the hallidays and all, well you know.
I have been waiting for thier wieght loss article, should be very interesting.
I've been thinking about loosing the mud flaps and foot fences, only if I get serious, but we'll see.

Well time to go do the new years eve thing so I'll catch you tomorrow, send me the pictures when you get them.

Happy new year!!!!

Gaff,

I tried a set of PEP triple rate shocks for a 250r on my Lakota. They were only about 1/2" too long, but the mounts on the frame wouldn't fit. The top mount was too wide and the bottom mount was too narrow. I think the length could've been adjusted by changing the clip position on the shock, but that would have made them stiffer. The mounts wouldn't be hard to change, but I didn't want to alter my frame more than absolutley necessary.

The Works shocks I ordered are working perfectly. With my engine mods and the new shocks, it seems like a new wheeler. I would like to try putting a 250r rear shock on mine, because I can really tell how bad the stocker is with the new front shocks.

Hey Gaff, Those 250R shocks are a couple inches longer than your lakota shocks and will not fit without raising the upper shock mounts on the frame. The motion ratio of the 250r and the lakota are different as well. the rear shock on a 250r uses a link system and will not work on the lakota. If the 250r rear shock is set up for an aftermarket no link swing arm it may work, depending on whose swing arm it is set up for. The custom axis DC2 nolink is the same length as the lakota and will work if you shorten the top mount sleeve a little. I have put 250r shocks on my sons mojave, but i made my own chromoly a arms and swing arm and made a raised and adjustable top mount for the front shocks. It is almost finished (waiting on powder coating now). I also made an antivibe chromoly steering stem, and a lot of other trick stuff.

I guess I was just wishing, maybe get them any way to sell and put the money towards the lakota.
Thanks for all your help, I'll just live with them for now, thier not all that bad, if they only had adjustable rebound they would be a lot better.

My rear shock is off a 250r with a stock swingarm and it bolted right up to the mojave. Is the lakota set up the same in the rear as a mojave? I love it,it works real good.
