IBOUGHT A NEW PIPE AND IT CAME WITH 8 DISKS BUT THE PAPERS THAT CAME WITH THE PIPE SAID THEY TESTED IT WITH 12 DISKS.

A friend of mine has this White Bothers exhaust on his SC500. His only came with 8 disc also. He was telling me the other day that he took the disc's off and ran the exhaust wide open. Well, I guess he said it seemed to actually run better like this. From this I gather, it would run better with the 12 discs verses the 8 discs. You might want to try running even 14 discs. Maybe it was you that was telling me this.

Seriously thou, anyone else out there have this pipe on their quad. I on occasion get asked by a customer about performance exhaust for the SC500. I don't really know much about the exhaust personally, for SC500. I have been told by more than one reliable source that the HPD "ugly duckling" was the only real performance exhaust availible for the 500 engines. All the others were just a louder noise maker. Any input would help both of us here.

9 discs is the best for low mid top end any more than that you start to lose low and mid range it gets louder and top end only increases anthor 1to3 mph on top end

Anyone know how loud the HPd Ugly Duckling pipe is? I want to get one, I'm just not too sure about the loudness vs. stock.

Thanks for any input.

While talking to HPD about some stuff, I asked about their "ugly duckling". They said that it took them a long time to come up with a muffler that actually offered more performance while keeping the noise level close to a stock muffler. They also said that they have another better looking design muffler in the works but are still working out some details.

I found 8 worked best for my magnum 425. I race GNCC and ran 7 races last year and the end broke off my WB E series. It's only 9 mo old.
Anybody else have this problem? Another member of our team broke his at about the same time on a Quadsport.
