I'm looking at getting an atv, but i'm not really sure what to get for myself. I want something sporty, fast, but something that can go anywhere. i'm looking at the honda bikes like the honda sportrax 250ex. i don't really know much about bike engines. so i'm wondering if that's enough power. i weigh about 160. i really want something reliable that i'm not going to have to spend a lot of money maintaining other than regular maintenace, oil, filters, etc. any input on this would be appreciated. i'll probably be purchusing a bike depending on what i learn here. thanks everyone!

The 250ex is a great beginners bike but is lacking in power for what you want. I would highly recommend a 400ex for it's superb handling, reliability, and good overall power. The 400ex is a very forgiving machine that is extremely easy to ride. Once you get used to the power you can alway's pump it up with aftermarket performance mods. There's an unlimited amount of aftermarket companies that exist to take care of your need's if and when you decide to upgrade. Bone stock though, it's a fantastic machine and you should be happy for quite sometime. Hope this helps.

I have both the 250ex and the 400ex. the 250 was my first quad, and when i had gotten it i thought it was the best quad out there, untill i started going down to some of the local trails and everyone had 400's and 660's. But let me tell you the 250ex will surprise you with the torque it has for such a small bike. The 250ex is a great first quad. But also keep in mind that it is a manumatic and doestnt have a hand clutch, you might not want that.

Don't forget guys, he said he wanted to be able to go anywhere. For that, 4X4 is a requirement. If Honda is your choice the Rancher is the way to go.
