Need help on pipe for a scam 500 H.O.
#1
My father purchased a new 2001 scambler 500 H.O. last fall. He is going to put a clutch kit on it but also would like to put a pipe on it. We have seen that Hot seat, DG, FMF, and white brothers makes a pipe for this machine. I would be great to hear if any of you have any oppinions on any of these pipes. Noise is not a big issue. Also if anyone has any prefferance on clutch kit brands please give your imput. Thanks

The hot seat pipe is junk and loud. The Sportsman 500HO version uses the same muffler just with different mounts.
Reason why...
Today while in the middle of a 130 mile ride one of the inner baffles failed. I had to gut it on the trail to get back to the truck. A large chunk of aluminum beat the heck out of everything inside the muffler. If I can't get the muffler replaced or at least the several inner parts replaced its going in the trash.

I like my FMF Mega Max 2, you can adjust it to how loud or quiet you want it. Just remember that you may need to rejet your carb. On my 2000 it came with a 155 main jet and FMF recomends a 160 main jet.(depending on your elevation)
