Kawasaki 220 VS. 250, Any Improvement?
#1
Has anyone had a chance to ride the new 250? Have there been any improvements to the suspension? Other improvements? I used to own a 1999 Model 220 and it jumped out of 2nd gear from the time it was new, and also the suspension would start it's porpoise mode anytime I got into anything other than smooth terrain. It had good power for a utility but I traded it because of the suspension problems. The Honda Recon, and now the Rancher I have don't have the porpoise problems of the Kawasaki. Was hoping the 250 would address these problems.

This quad upgrade is a slap in the face to the consuming public. The 220 only had a 215cc engine in it, and now they pumped the same motor up to 228cc and call it a 250. I wish they would just call them what they are. But I guess a 633 cc prarie just doesn't sell as well as a 650!

OK now!!! Lets not run just Kawasaki down on engine displacements compared to their name, example- Prairie 650 = 633cc. Now lets take a look at some other companies,
Big Bear 400=386cc
Eiger 400=376cc
A C 400=371cc
Rancher 350=329cc
Recon 250=229cc
BearTrac.250=229cc
Polaris 700=683cc
PolarisXP400=378cc
This is for DaveC, don't single out one company that has the fastest 4x4 whining about the displacement, you should mention all the companies, because they all do it.

EASY there tiger. Let me give you a little rundown of all the quads I've owned.
suzuki 50
85 or 86(can't remember) tecate 250
95 bayou 300
97 prarie 400 4x4
99 Prarie 400 4x4 - current ride
99 prarie 300 4x4= dads
2000 prarie 400 4x4= uncles
97 bayou 300 = cousins
I also rode a 89 zx10 sport bike for 5 years.
As you can see I have a history with kawasaki products and am only doggin them on the cc/ name plate issue. I know every manufacturer does it, I just wish they wound call it what it is.
Sorry if I came off the wrong way, my 400's in the shop for a ripped rear driveline boot and it's making me edgey. I WANT MY QUAD BACK !!!

DaveC, sorry about the extreme counter-post to you, but here lately I've been reading other brand post on this forum and people are talking worse about Kawasaki than they do Polaris. This has really started to get to me!! No harm intended, just thought you were coming down on Kawasaki also.

No harm no foul.
Sorry about the edgeyness. It's just that I think my dealers doing a bogus repair job on my quad. I took it in because I was hearing a crunching noise when I got on or off the quad. I thought my swing arm bearings had gone out again. So I cleaned it up and took it in expecting to get some warrenty work done before my extended warrenty runs out.
They call me the next day and say it's not my swing arm bearings but that my rear boot was ripped with a stick sticking out of it and all kinds of mu and grime inside. I argued a little but realized I was getting no-where so I agreed to the $150.00 repair to replace the boot and c/v bearings they say had gone out. Then I started thinking that if was the c/v joint shoulding it make noise going foreward and reverse and not just when I got on or off?
I wish I'd went up there to see it before I o.k.'d the repair.
