Bigbad400,
my 30ex does the same thing sometimes, make sure the allen wrench bolts on the back of the carrier are really tight (i tighten mine till i cant turn them no more without striping them) cause the carrier is turning forward while ur rideing and tighting the chain and u might want to check the swig arm and carrier bearings just to make sure their isnt no slop in them and u are checking the tightness of the chain with someone sitting on it arnt u?

he just replaced the bearings about 3 weeks ago. There isn't anyone sitting on the bike when he tightens the chain should there be.

NO, there shouldn't be anyone on the bike when you are actally tightening the chain. In fact, the rear end should be lifted, allowing the carrier to move freely when you adjust it, instead of resting on the ground. After you feel the chain has been tightened sufficiently, double-check it by having the bike's rider sit on the machine to see if it is adequate. Once the weight is on the machine, then you can get a look to see if you need to loosen the chain or tighten it more, or if it is just right. Redrider is right, if the bolts that hold the carrier snug in the swingarm are loose, the carrier will roll, putting the chain out of adjustment. Careful not to overtighten.

you need to make sure the carrier is clean and the swing arm to . use brake cleaner to do this ... grease will cause the carrier to slip
