Does anyone remember back around 1996 one of the quad magazines had an article on installing a 250r swingarm into a 250x frame? At that time I owned a 250x bought all swingarm setup with axle, but never installed it. I ended up selling because nobody to go riding with. Now I own a 300ex and want to get the conversion done. I already have the swingarm modified to accept the stock 250x mounting point. I remember they had said I will need a 250r swingarm pivot bolt to cut the head off and weld the head from the 250x bolt onto to accept the foot brake lever. I think I got everything down in my brain but I have search the internet all over and can find nothing on this. I know I could just spend the money and either get a new longer swingarm to just bolt on or have mine lenghtened, but I already have all the peices. Any help will be helpfull. Thanks.

I had a friend that put an '88-'89R swingarm/axle in a '88 250X. Seems the only thing he had trouble with is that he had to make some spacers for the rear sprocket so it would line up.

It was Dirtwheels June 1995. The article just stated they modified the pivot bolt. They did not mention how they did it. They said that ATV Specialist helped them do it. They are now called ATV Racing. Their web site is www.atvracing1.com. e-mail address,atv1@mindspring.com. phone #(623)516-8640. Good luck, and let me know how it turns out.

I e-mailed ATV Racing and with 2 replys later from them it sounds as if the have no clue and also sounds like the didn't even really read the e-mail because all they talked about was the stupid a-arms. Wish I could have talked to someone smart there!! Oh well I now have the 250R swingarm installed with the original 300ex bolt and it sees to be working just fine. Ihave rode it about 3 times for a total of about 3 1/2 hours and no problems. I now only need a stiffer shock to go with the longr arm.

Did you weld on brackets for the linkage to bolt on to? Or did you get a no link rear end?

Neither, I used the original 300EX shock. I measured out the same distance from the pivot bolt to where the shock mounted in the 300EX arm and made a mount similiar to the stock 300Ex mount. The only problem is now with the longer arm I need a stiffer shock. I think I might have to go with an aftermarket shock. Email me at bao69@webtv.net if you want to see a picture of my setup.
