dynojet stage 1 and 2 kit jetting recommendation for 400ex correct?
#1
i just purchased a dynojet stage 1 and stage 2 jet kit made by k&N. well i was going to jet for the stage one and it said that i need to put in the 146 main for 3000 and below if using an aftermarket exhaust. I don't see how this is right when the stock jet is 148. why would you jet leaner. Is it because they use the adaptor for the different style mains or what. thanks for all help

The stock main jet is a Kehin jet. All jets your Honda dealer carries are Kehin jets. They do not correspond with the sizes Dynojet uses. I do not know the formula to calculate but you need to read the plug and give the bike what it wants. Test ride after each jet change to see if you are running rich or lean. Check Exriders.com for some good posts on carbs and jetting. Hope this helps.

I installed the kit on mine and follow the directions to the letter and it works good, I have mine set at the max 170, with aftermarket and no lid. the first thing you will notice is that it will easily hit the rev limiter, a higher rev box will fix that though. but over all I am very happy with the kit.

mikeboone is correct...
Kehin jets/needle and K&N Power Kit jets/needle are totally different sizes. Note however, that the kit does not replace the stock/Kehin slow/pilot jet, which I think should be upped on to two sizes.
