According to the post here most of the increased performance comes from the Jet and Airbox modifications. Well I do not really want more power right now since I ride along and sometimes with Uitilities. However I do want either a Stainless or a JetHot coated head pipe and muffler. I do not want to lose the Factory heat shield so I considered sending my exhaust to JetHot to have them coated but why spend that much $ when I could buy a better after market system.

I guess my question in a round about way is, "Is there an aftermarket stainless pipe kit that I can still use my stock heat shields on?"

I also want it to have a spark arrestor and close to stock sound levels.

Off subject: I also have the cold clutch lurch when first started. My solution was, after I start my Raptor I press in and release the clutch several times befor putting it in gear. I guess this heats the clutches up some or something.

Yoshimura has the tabs on it for the heat sheild
plus it is fairly queit the stock pipe is 92dp
and the yoshi is 100dp An it is Stainless Steel/alum
And as for the lerch mine does it to if you let it set an
run for a few mins it want do it the tranny is dry sump
so you have to allow it to get to operating temp before
puting in gear! Hope I have helped some what,

Yea, the Yosh pipe is nice and the heat shields do bolt right on just like they came from the factory. As far as I know it is the ONLY pipe avalable that has the provisions for the heat shields. You could go with just a slip on pipe. I haven't purchased the the added baffle for mine yet, it's not TOO loud though. I want to have it before I go to Silver Lake Sand Dunes this August. I would hate to make the drive only to be turned away because of the loud pipes. If your curious about the looks I have a couple of pictures of the Yosh pipe at the location below. If you do decide to go with the jet kit you will still be able to ride with the utility quads, the power is still managable.

not sure why you want to keep the heat shields, I dont seem to get close to the exhaust when I ride. but it sounds like you are looking for the yoshi system. you get the most power gains when you treat intake/exhaust as a complete system from airbox to exhaust, just changing one or the other gets you minimal improvement no matter which system you go with

i believe the new BIG GUN systems have the heat shield tabs on them. plus they have a quiet core system and the yosh don't.

i sent my stock head pipe and heat shields to jet hot they coated the pipe and shields for 130 buck.

from what i researched unless you do motor mods the header will take away your torque
unless its the same diameter as stock.

also the stainless steel turns brown after ahwile so the coated pipe will look better in the long run.

Hey Vmax12,

Why don't you add a snowplow, winch and heated cab to that overweight pig you're running? Maybe you could include your birthdate and cousins middle names in that signature line.

Does Vmax12 mean that you like Vmax' but wish you had one because you're only 12 years old? Obviously, since you're from Indiana, you must be a product of a brother-sister relationship, which would explain the retarded jargon that fell off your keyboard.

I had a 98 Vmax, and no....it won't even come close to beating an XX.
