Occasionally my riding style makes me push my right leg up against the motor, and it hits the pipe guard. When I'm done riding, I notice some holes burnt into my pants. This usually happens to looser pants that flap around in the wind.

Does anybody else have this problem? Is my pipe getting too hot?

Hey guys I was having the same problem. I took some of that heat tape that you use to stop your plastic from melting, and stuck it onto my pants. It may look a little tacky when you are hanging out at camp, but it saves alot of money not having to buy new pants all the time.

What kind of riding are you guys doing when you are burning your pants. If it's hard play racing or even trail riding, I wear MX boots.
The Alpinestars I wear have a leather insert that lines up with the pipe guard, This keeps the boots from scratching the paint on the guard. I haven't had any problems burning up my pantleg.

I wear MX boots too and do not have a problem with pants burning.

My friend burnt his nylon pants on my DS, I've never burnt mine when riding though.
Of course my riding attire consists of just flip-flops, a tank top & a jock strap.

In all seriousness though. After I added the RCR pipe to my old Scrambler it was much hotter than the stocker. I used that auto heat tape (like thick aluminum foil). The thing with the Scrambler was that it had a big cover over the pipe that you could stick the heat tape on the under side of. The DS really doesn't have that type of guard. I never burn my pants leg. I guess I'm not riding aggressively enough ?

Thanks for the responses, I may try the heat tape.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, I have bow legs, but not that bad

I never have bought riding boots because I am more comfortable in steel toe boots and jeans.
And I don't even ride with a jock strap, just shoes and goggles, cause I have ***** of Steel!!
