i was wondering, when changing the oil in my raptor . i can get the first quart in the tank and only about 1/2 of the second and then it starts to over fill, so i roll the motor over,(not letting it start)and the oil pumps into the motor, and then i can add the rest of the second quart. is this normal ? i would think i could put both quarts in...

Forgive me if this seems like a basic question, but you drained the oil out of both the crankcase & the oil resivour prior to refilling didn't you?? If you didn't you could be overfilling it. It's odd that there is two drain locations, be thankful your not changing the oil in a Canondale, they have 4 or 5 locations to drain.

When I change mine, it takes it all without tilting the machine. It's slow, but it goes.

Again, forgive the basic question, but it's usually the little things that screw us up.

Well, those two wide parts of the frame hold oil with drain plugs then a crankcase drain, then some other kind of resivour. I have a couple of friends with FX400's and they say it is a real pain.

Now that I think about it, I do start it briefly to pull the oil in. Then cap it off to the full level. So yea, it is normal.

The factory service manual says to put in 1.5L start the engine rev 4 or 5 times shut off add rest of oil. So what I do is put in the first quart, start it rev 5 times, shut off, add 2nd quart, start rev 5 times, check level & top off.
