Just curious, but has anybody replaced their valve seals on the Raptor? I looked at the parts diagram and the only show the whole guide assembly which is $18/valve. I don't need new guides, just the seals.

Sorry, have'nt had to replace seals or any internal engine work for that matter. Is your Raptor smoking? Do you have any mods?

No smoke, just tearing the head apart to port and decided to pull off the valve seals so that I could clean the head off in the parts cleaner here at work. I was afraid the solvents would attack the rubber seals and would cause problems down the road. So I pulled off the seals each of the seals had little chuncks of rubber come off with them when I pulled them off the top of the guides. I think they are probably ok, but would rather not have any problems with oil leaking on the new engine. I've got a few mod's.

'01 Raptor, DMC Alien, Pro-Flow K&N, 146/148 Dynojet, No Lid, Elka Triples w/Remote & SSD, 12/42 Sprockets, Flipped Linkage, GYT-R Billet Shifter, Renthals, ASV Clutch Lever, GYT-R Billet Brake, GYT-R Aluminum Heel, AC-Skid, 102mm J&E, RD Valve Springs, Web 696/697 cam.

Sure sounds like those rubber chunks were actually sealing the valve. On another note, did your 102mm JE come with file-fit rings?

The rubber came off the under side of the seal where it snaps over the top of the guide. It looks like it will still seal, but new seals should only be a couple bucks a piece if I just knew what size to buy?

Not sure if I got the File-Fit rings, but I guess I will find out when I assemble the lower end this evening? I ordered the piston directly from JE.

Read the instructions concerning the rings very carefully. I have bought direct from JE and ran into the "file-fit" ring deal. If you have never "file-to-fit" rings before, have someone competent do it.

Ahhhhhhh, I finally found the part number. They do list different part numbers for the warrior and the raptor and of course different prices?

Yeap. Just use the Warrior seals -- they are identical!! And cost less.
