Can the honda 400ex be wheelied in 5th gear?
#1
I have a 2001 red honda 400ex and my question is mainly about wheelies but it doesn't concern about how to do them but can the 400ex wheelie in 5th gear. What I'm trying to say When I'm riding wheelies on highway 21 near my house which is the only good place I can ride them far I'll bring them up in second then shift up and up but when I try to shift to 5th gear it doesn't have the power to keep it going. I don't start in first because it winds out to quick. but is it because of the low end power it has that it won't wheelie in 5th or should I let the engine rev out more. but I think it will but i haven't tried it again yet because i have a front flat on my 400 but when I get another tire I'll go try and hopefully the cops won't be around. any kind of advice on this will help just tell me what you think or know. thank you

I think the 400ex is just a low powered atv trying to impress people. i think the raptor can beat it at what ever they compete in. The raptor has the power to keep it up all the way through the gears. but the 400ex don't have enough of power to kepp it up.

5th gear is not a problem you just have to lean to the very edge. Dont you have a pasture or some other flat dirt area to practice in? If your not that experienced, concrete is not the place to learn. Besides that I didn't know you could legally ride on the highway.?!?!

Warpig I am experienced with four wheelers and I've seen alot of stuff happen regarding them which some have been scary and some have came out okay. As to what you said about highway riding well we ain't suppose to ride on the highway what so ever. but we do it all the time and luckily we never get seen on the road when cops come by. I've only have had my 400 for about a month and half and when I first got it I started riding wheelies the first day. around here we ride on the highway and other roads down here alot to get around but if we do get caught well that's that i guess. we have had alot of complaints about me and my friend with the four wheelers and we have been told to not ride here and there but we do it anyway. but thanks on your advice i think i can shift to 5th because I shift all the other gears with no problem. later from #1 stunning madmike

I think you are some 13 y/o kid trying to be a smartass. Who cares what you think?
The 400 has plenty of power and torque to wheelie all day long. You
probably dont even have a raptor, you probably ride a little blaster,or pee wee 80....

And for your info Mr350X i am 14. And I don't recall saying nowhere in what i said that i have a raptor. Shows how much you know. Maybe you should learn to read everything. And the one that made the topic is my friend and i was joking with him. I think you should keep your smartass words to yourself.

Wow a 14 year old none quad riding kid on an ATV board, talking trash, kinda funny. Anyways in answer to the main question yes a 400 can pop wheelys in 5th gear as long as you are going hella fast.
