Ok, here's the deal. My local AC dealer just got a shipment of ATV's yesterday (finally!). I've been waiting for about 6 months to buy, and had narrowed it down to the 400 4x4. But he tells me that AC isn't making the ACT on the 400 anymore - only the 400i will be available. If I want the ACT suspension - I have to get the 500. Ok, I say, no big deal. Here are my questions:

1. He quoted me a price of $5399 plus tax for the 400i 4x4. How does that sound to you guys?

2. I plan to plow with this. I can get the Warn winch with the $500 of acc that AC will throw in. However, I plan to buy the Moose plow. How does their electric motor for lifting the plow work? Anybody have one? I really don't need a winch (I've gone this long in life without one). I'd really only use it when I'm plowing. If the electric motor from Moose works well, I might just get that with the plow, and use the $500 from AC for other goodies! Any thoughts?

Any advice or input you guys could give would be greatly appreciated. Who knows, mayby by tonight, I might be an "official" member of the Pride.

Question #1 sounds like a good price from what I've seen. Some have got a little cheaper but some have paid 500 more. Now for question #2 I haven't seen snow since my last trip to Colorado about 4 years ago, so I don't have a clue!

Thanks Cummins. I thought that price was about average. Just can't decide about the winch though...

If AC is giving you $500 in accesories I would opt for the winch and an AC snow plow. I think both can be had for $500 or slighty more. The AC plow uses the winch to raise and lower it. I think the Moose plow can also be used by winch power. As for the Machine I think the price the dealer gave was a good one.

jburglund:

Have you looked at the 375 4x4 auto. It has the ACT rear suspension and the motor is actually bigger than the 400I.

As far as the plow goes I beleive Minehunter is right about the using the winch to lift the plow or at least the setup I see at the dealers was using the winch.

I was told that the winch would be $450 (and all associated hardware plus switch) out the door (another $70 to install), only leaving me with $50 of the $500. I think the plow is around $300 for plow and frame. What do you guys think of the AC plastic plow as opposed to the Moose metal one? Think it's a big deal to go plastic?

I don't know much about snow plows but, why not have the winch. You can use it for things other than just lifting the plow. You may have not needed it in the past but you never know about the future.
The 400 ACT is available in the manual shift version. You better have your dealer check again.
