Hello folks,
About a month ago i sold my Honda 300. Don't ask me why, 'cause i don't know. Never had a problem with it at all. In my hunt for a new bike i had narrowed it down to the Yamaha Big Bear and the Honda Rancher. Could not decide which to buy, but i think what sold me on the Rancher was the reliability of my old Honda. Probably shouldn't rate the reliability of one model on the reliability of another, but i guess that's what i did!!..I rode both bikes time and time again and it was hard to chose. So anyone out there with a Big Bear, I'm pretty sure ya gotta great bike. To me, it's a toss-up. Big Bear or Rancher - i don't think you can go wrong either way. Other great bikes out there too...anyway, thanks guys for all the info, pros, cons, and suggestions you offered through this forum. I've got my new bike just about worn out...less than 1 mile so far!! Which brings up a point. I've heard lots of ideas on how to break in an engine. What do you think is best?

Is the Rancher a 4X4 ????
You won't be sorry with your choice. They are extremely reliable bikes.

Yes...4x4 with fairing, full length skidplate, bumpers, and footguards.

My honda dealer tells me i should have my first oil change in my new Rancher after 40 hours. Can this be right?? This seems like an awful long time to me, even without hard riding. And with the break in issue, i am hearing so many different things. Ride like you will drive it normally. Let idle for 10 min, cool down, idle again. Or drive easy for 5 hours. What is best???
