Hello everyone! I am currently selling my 2000 DRZ400E dirt bike to purchase a 2002 Raptor 660. This is my first 4-wheeler, but I think I picked a good one. I put a downpayment on it today and my price was $6250.00 + tax, good deal on this quad?? If anyone is interested in the DRZ it is on ebay and ends friday, it is the one with black plastic... Well you guys will probably get all my questions here soon after I pick it up, what is the break in like on these?? How long and and what throtle? And what is a good exhaust, I have a T-4 on my DRZ, I would like one that is Quiet or has a quiet core like the T-4 so my options are probably limited?? Thanks everyone!

I just bought my 2002 raptor last saturday and the baby really rips. My dealer told me to go 15 minutes and then turn it off and let it cool, 15 more minutes and let it cool. Then go 1 hour and let it cool and 1 more hour and let it cool. After that. He said ride it like you normally do but do not maintain a constant speed for a prolonged period of time. He said open it up and then go slow and keep doing it. My first tune up is due at 25 hours. and I paid 6,250.00 out-the-door including registration and a matching helmet. i love my machine more than the wife. Have fun riding..... It's awesome !!!!!

Why not the Z-400, at least you won't have to wory about the transmision blowing up, or A-arms falling off.

the z-400 will be an awesome machine, but the fact of the matter is, it will not beat a raptor!!. With the 2002 raptor, there is no tranny problems and the rear axle has been strengthened. Yamaha has addressed their mistakes and changed them for the 2002 model. There is no doubt in my mind that the z-400 will be one bad hammerjammer, but the raptor is still the king (in my own opinion)

I know that stock for stock the Raptor will be a more powerful quad, no doubt. Handling? well that is yet to be seen, but after having the DRZ bike, I know what the motor feels like, not only that they are tuning it down for the quad, It will be more like a 400EX then it will be a Raptor!
