My dad wants to buy any kind of used 4x4 atv, preferably with a good price, we just don't know what kind is good. Could anyone please give us any input or suggestions on a good used model. I have a 91 banshee and we'd like to go riding together, i know he wouldn't keep up with me and my friends, but it'd be fun to have go with us once in a while. Thanx for all the help.

I would have to say a Wolverine would be a good choice. Not just because I love mine, but for what you described, it would make sense. Chances are your dad wouldn't want to ride as fast as you and your friends, but you want him to be able to keep up. Also, if he's a new rider, he won't be able to handle the bike as well as some others when it comes to maneuvering through the tough stuff, and that is where the 4x4 would come in handy. The Wolv is such a light and maneuverable bike, that I would bet that within a few hours, you and your friends would be finding yourselves trying to keep up with him in the woods.

ace--has your dad had any motorcycle experience or time on a four wheeler. I see you are experienced but he may need a more entry level machine. He might be more comfortable on one of the polaris sport models.

Thanx for all your help, we are still looking for other 4x4's but the wolverine is at the top of our list.

I have to agree. I own a 1999 Wolverine. It has enough speed to keep up with you bike, but at the same time it has strength to do some utility jobs. Also, when going up steep inclines a 4x4 will help you keep from tipping backwards. This is especially important for inexperianced riders who do not know how to position there body.

Ace your Dad should take a look at a Polaris explorer. He might not want to shift and it is 4wd for taking on some of those chores around the house.

I know this is a Yamaha Forum, but you did'nt lay any preferance on brand names. My choice would be the Polaris 2 stroke 400cc 4x4 Xplorer. It is oil injected,[half gallon container] it's probably the fastest 4x4 quad out there today,Automatic, with low range, and you have a decent suspension to.This quad is part sport/recreation.It cant do everything the best, but yet still ranks high in most any catagorie or terrain it will ever face.Definately my personal choice. No matter which one he selects,im sure he'll have a ball, best of luck===BILL

I think your dad would like a Yamaha Timberwolf. I am 5'6" 170 lbs. and I love it. It does not have the speed of a wolverine but in is a good quad for a dad! Plus it is 4x4 (newer models).
