Getting the Scram back together....bunch of maintenance and repairs....decided to install Boyessons while I had it apart. Will I be required to re-jet? I know on some snowmobiles that when a more efficient reed is installed, you have to jet down. Is this the case here? Or are they a "bigger airflow" reed that will require bigger jets?

Normally no, but run it and see. Reeds do not stop nor add any air flow, only amount of force to open/close and how fast they open/close compared to stock. Therefore no need to rejet, but as always - run it easy the first time out and run a plug check. Good Luck

Cool...thanks. I was going to lean it out a hair anyway, so I put in 27.5 pilot and 220 main (down from 30 and 230). I'll run it and keep an eye on things.

DaveB,

That's a smart idea. Usually when you add a better set of reeds, you will have to rejet LEANER. With all other modifications you usually have to jet richer, but not the reeds.

Hope this helps!

Just make sure it's not running too lean...I've seen pistons get shelled that way. I put Boysen pro reeds in my xplorer 400 and didn't have a lick of problems, no rejetting required...it runs like a raped ape!!

I should be OK since these things are generally jetted fat from the factory. Plus, I live at 3000 feet elev, and most of my riding is done in the mountains from 4000 to 6000 feet elev....But I'll definately watch the plug and the piston wash for the first few rides.
