Is there a way to tell if a 01 Raptor has tranny problems

If the tranny is making weird noises, that's usually a sign of it going bad. Rough shifting, and slipping is also a way to tell. But the number 1 sign of a tranny failure is if.... drum roll please... you can't shift it

The trans will shift just fine even under power. If you have noticed it popping out of 2nd or not fully going into 2nd under load, you are about to have a problem. One way to help prolong the trans is to lower the foot shifter slightly so that you can apply more shift pressure while in an agressive riding position. You can also change your final gearing to 13/42 or 13/43 and thereby avoid alot of the hard 2nd gear shift issues by altering the power band.
If you find yourself flying over the bars as you shift to 2nd or during a hard acceleration in 2nd, you are too late!

Yamaha says there is no problem with the Raptor transmission so it must be true. With mine I just set on it and it falls over and I am getting to the point of enjoying the ride down to the ground. It just like riding only in a different direction.
